Maths Craft New Zealand have been invited to the IDEAS Festival in Nelson on 11-12 April to run workshops on some of the links between mathematics and craft.
In our hands-on workshop we’ll explore the wonders of the Möbius strip and build an origami cube. While we build, twist, fold, and experiment, we’ll discuss the mathematics behind each of the objects we’re creating. This workshop will challenge your intuition and make you think about mathematics in a whole new way. No special skills are required - we’ll teach you everything you need to know - and you can take your creations home with you.
The IDEAS Festival is a fun two days of learning and discovery for school children aged 8-13. The concept behind the IDEAS Festival is simple - people who do amazing things can inspire others to do amazing things too. Students select sessions in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) topics and explore them in interactive, dynamic workshops. The IDEAS Festival offers experiences that inspire, excite, and spark ideas for brighter futures. The festival will be held at NMIT from 9am - 3pm on 11 and 12 April.
The IDEAS Festival is a not-for-profit event run by an educational charity.
